EQuIPT is an intensive, focused, hands-on training program for undergraduate students in science & engineering; a collaborative effort between the University of Maryland (UMD) and the LPS Qubit Collaboratory (LQC). This full-time research program includes 10 weeks of training in state-of-the-art research facilities, providing hands-on experience in four core areas of:
Quantum Hardware Prototyping
Quantum Hardware Fabrication
Coherent Qubit Control
Data Analysis and Visualization

Duration: 10 weeks full-time
Stipend: $10,000 for the duration of the program
Accommodation: EQuIPT will offer housing on UMD's campus for the duration of the program
Training: EQuIPT offers seminar series, short lectures on QISE, professional development workshops, and field trips throughout the program
Extracurricular: You will have 10 weeks to discover all the fun the Metropolitan DC area offers
Travel Grants: a select number of awards available for presenting at the annual LQC Program review in College Park, MD

EQuIPT is open only to U.S. citizens.
Applicants should be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate college or university within the U.S. and its territories, with an anticipated graduation of December 2026 or later.
Preferred majors: Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science. Applicants from other fields are encouraged to contact the EQuIPT team before applying.
The selected candidate must be able to pass a security clearance review and be approved for access to LPS facilities. Appointment offers will be rescinded should the candidate fail to meet this clearance requirement.
